Who we are
Dobo (“we”, “us”) decides how your personal data is used, which makes us the “controller” under data protection law.

What we collect
- Account details
- Your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google. If you choose Hide My Email, we only get Apple's relay address.
- Learning progress
- Lessons and units you finish, drill answers, streak days, your daily goal, reminder time and voice setting.
- Crash reports
- When the app crashes: device model, operating system, app version and what the app was doing, so we can fix it.
- Usage events
- [Which lessons you start and finish and where people get stuck, so we can improve the course. In the EU, EEA and UK we ask first.]
- Subscription status
- Whether you have Dobo Pro and when it renews. Apple or Google handle the payment itself.
- Messages you send us
- Support emails, messages you send us on Discord, lesson reports you send from the app, and account deletion requests from this site.
How we use it
- To run your account and keep your progress in sync across devices.
- To send the practice reminders you turn on.
- To find and fix bugs and crashes.
- To improve lessons, using totals rather than looking at individuals.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We don’t use your data for advertising and we don’t sell it to anyone.
Services we use
These companies process data for us. Each one only gets what it needs for its job.

How long we keep it
We keep your account details and progress while your account exists. When you delete your account, we erase them within [30] days. Crash reports are kept for up to [90] days. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you, or send you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your account and data;
- stop using your data for usage events.
Email [email protected] and we’ll reply within 30 days. To delete your account, use the delete account page. If you’re in the EU, EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Dobo is for learners aged 13 and over. If you think a child under 13 has made an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Where data is stored
Our service providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. [When data leaves the EU, EEA or UK, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.]
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For bigger changes we’ll also tell you in the app.
